According to the company, it has tested the blocker across 15,000 websites and hopes to support more going forward and the technology relies on a “combination of CSS rules and JavaScript heuristics” to function.

Users will have to choose whether they want to outright block all cookies, no cookies, or only block cookies from third parties.

Opera will also be adding other features such as the introduction of various home screen shortcuts for users running Android 7.1 and higher, as well as options to customise a website’s text size.

The company says the cookie dialog box blocker will come to the rest of the Opera portfolio soon.
