INTERNATIONAL - It has been revealed that Samsung is working on a phone with a foldable screen, which is rumored to be called the Galaxy X and is set to launch this year.

The Galaxy X was reportedly shown to insiders at January's Consumer Electronic Show (CES) this year and has recently passed certification and is view-able on Samsung's support site.

In media reports, The company explain in a public earnings call with investors on 31 January and said: “In 2018, we will differentiate through the development of cutting-edge products, such as foldable OLED smartphones.”

What are the rumoured specifications for the Galaxy X:

The Samsung Galaxy X was originally rumoured to be a 5 inch phone that could fold out into an 8 inch tablet, but it’s now suspected to fold out into a 7 inch tablet.

It’s indeed possible that there will actually be two Samsung foldable phones released.

According to rumours the screen resolution is expected to be 4K (3840x2160 pixels), ensuring that it remains high-res when folded.

The Galaxy X could also feature a dual-camera at the rear, one of the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors - most likely the Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810- and at least 6GB of RAM.

There should be a microSD card slot, but the battery will not be removable.
