A Free State woman reported her husband missing after allegedly killing him and locking him away in a storeroom, police said yesterday.

She was arrested this week, and was expected to appear on a charge of murder in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today, along with her gardener.

Her 37-year-old husband was stabbed, apparently during a domestic dispute, on Sunday. Police were investigating the possibility that the husband hit his 30-year-old wife with a pipe before he was killed.

This week, police found the gardener cleaning bloodstains off the pavement. He told them it was the blood of a sheep he had slaughtered.

A policeman noticed bloodstains on the rubbish bin next to a storeroom. The man’s body was found there. He had a stab wound to the neck and burns on one hand. – Sapa
