The Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) makes a return this month and promises a nice treat for those who will be attending this much-anticipated event.
This year’s edition of the conference will be held at the Steyn Entertainment-owned Hallmark House Hotel in Johannesburg on May 24 and 25.
Fans can expect a mix of local and international delegates, centering around the hip-hop and electronic music industries and the Afro-Euro connection that both of these chart-topping genres provide.
Speakers will include Siya Metane, founder of SlikourOnLife and well-known in the music industry as Slikour; DJ Sabby, host of the biggest show on Metro FM, the Top 30; DJ, producer and radio personality Kutloano Da Kruk; Jade Kelly Wilson of Breakroom Africa; Shannon Valstar, general manager at Steyn Entertainment; and Ninel Musson of VTH Session, an expert on music, creative content and tech strategy.
ARMC has a powerful line-up of women ambassadors, each bringing their unique insight and skill sets to the event.
They include Tumi Mogapi of Women In Music South Africa; Anyiko Owoko, from Kenya, of Anyiko PR; Dieuwertje Heuvelings, from The Netherlands, of ADE BEATS/Dutch Music Export; artist and songwriter Money Ba Doo; and artist, producer and Afrohouse Beatport curator JAMIIE.
Conference founder Sarah Jane Nicholson shared: “We are positive that this exchange will help accelerate the development of the South African and African music market by developing real expertise that can compete on a global scale.”
Owoko commented: “Limitations of international travel due to the pandemic have weakened the African-European connections and hampered various activities.
“ARMC is vital in reinforcing the mutually beneficial connections between the industry in Africa and Europe and it’s doing this by creating a meeting point for various music executives and professionals to exchange knowledge, contacts and cutting-edge ideas.”
They also aim to empower and encourage South African-based executives to move into the international space.
