Johannesburg - A father and his 10-year-old son were declared dead on the scene when their motorcycle collided with a Rea Vaya bus and two other vehicles in Parktown.

The man was allegedly taking his son to school.

The accident happened at the intersections of Empire Road and Joubert street on Tuesday morning.

That led to Empire road being closed off to traffic on the westbound between Joubert & Hillside. 

Spokesperson of the City of Johburg Emergency Services, Robert Mulaudzi, said the father and his son died at the scene. 

"Two occupants from other vehicles were injured and received advanced medical care. One was later taken to Netcare Milpark Hospital while the other one to a clinic,” explained Mulaudzi. 

Metro Police's Wayne Minnaar said the cause of the accident was still unknown and being investigated.
