The Johannesburg High Court is set to hear an urgent application against the hosting of the ANC provincial policy conference.

On Saturday, Sithole took the matter to the Johannesburg High Court with the view to "review and set aside" the PEC's decision to hold the conference following the issue of 14 quarantined votes from five branches with the sitting of the court set for 6.30pm today.

Speaking to members of the media, provincial secretary, Jacob Khawe said the conference will be going ahead as planned while allowing the five contesting branches and delegates space to participate while the matter is being heard in court.

Khawe said after being informed of the pending court case, the provincial structures of the ANC tried to get the matter resolved.

"A decision was taken on Friday morning to deal with this matter because the decision required the PEC to act accordingly.

We had a short meeting to understand the comrades that are taking us to court. We did this to understand their view and expectations...So as things stand these comrades wiĺl be allowed to participate in the proceedings. However, their votes wiĺ be quarantined pending the court case and its outcomes," Khawe said.

ANC National Spokesperson said that following the delays the conference will be going on as planned to ensure that the voting and adoption of credentials is concluded.

" We are going to respond accordingly and our lawyers have been briefed and on stand-by to ensure we respond and go on with the business of this conference.

We need to make sure that we do everything that by the end of this conference everything that is needed to be done has been done. This delay might be sending mixed messages out there. These delays were really about making sure that we are clinical in everything else we do in ensuring that everything is up to scratch," Mabe said.
