It was all things fun and entertaining this past weekend at the much-anticipated Cotton Fest in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Family, friends and fans graced the event in numbers to celebrate the phenomenal ideas that were brought to life by the late music icon and fashion trendsetter, Rikhado “Riky Rick” Makhado.

Cotton Eaters, as they are called because of their affinity for fashion, pulled out all the stops to look the part.

The Star was also part of the experience in which everyone went all out to celebrate Riky’s life. Various notable artists graced the stages, and gave stellar performances.

Artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Nadia Nakai and many more had the crowd singing along to their hits.

The event was filled with memorable moments, with an emotionally charged tribute to Ricky, and artists who reminded the crowds how incredible the music star was.

Alain Ferrier, who is a director and Riky’s business partner, also helped to bring the Cotton Fest to life.

“If there is anything that highlights Riky and people’s appreciation for him and his legacy, it has always been done in positive vibes. The weekend should be about uplifting moments and feelings.

“Our message has always been about great value, high energy, fun, fashion, forward-thinking, and inclusivity. All those things that we want the youth to be proud of.”

Not only was Riky a fashion maven, he also possessed an illustrious track record of lifting up others, helping them gain recognition in the entertainment industry.

It is widely known that used his stardom to lift and nurture rising stars to dominate the entertainment stages.

The Cotton Fest was everything that people had wanted, and exuded high energy and great entertainment.
