Johannesburg - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have congratulated the re-election of General Secretary Xi Jinping after the conclusion of what they described as a successful Communist Party of China (CPC) 20th congress.

The EFF, in a statement, also congratulated delegates that took part in the congress and the leadership collective chosen by delegates to be members of the Politburo and Central Committee of the CPC.

The Fighters said that the CPC is the torch-bearer for all Marxist-Leninist formations in the world as it has demonstrated the superiority of Marxism-Leninism as a tool of analysis and guide to action.

The party said that, as they are a Marxist-Leninist economic emancipation movement, they take inspiration from the CPC because it has remained true to Marxism and has excellently applied it to Chinese circumstances.

"We are in full agreement with the General Secretary’s assertion in his political report that our experience has taught us that, at the fundamental level, we owe the success of our Party and socialism with Chinese characteristics to the fact that Marxism works, particularly when it is adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of our times.

"Indeed, Marxism works. That is why we, the EFF, a political formation founded in July 2013, adopted Marxism-Leninism and Fanonian schools of thought as our tools of analysis and guide to action," read the party statement.

The party reiterated its support for President Xi Jinping, whom they described as having similar qualities to Chairman Mao Zedong as he has paid particular attention to the development of productive forces in the African continent and the entire developing world.

"Under Chairman Mao Zedong, China constructed the Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), a more than 1 800 kilometres railway project from Zambia to Tanzania and one of the most iconic and positively impactful infrastructure projects on the African continent.

"The Chinese government under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping has, through the Belt and Road Initiative and through the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FACAC), played an important role in the development of transport and energy infrastructure in the African continent," said the EFF.

The party encouraged and urged the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government to deepen, widen, strengthen, and consolidate China’s mutually beneficial relationships with the African continent.

The EFF wished the CPC, Central Committee, Politburo and General Secretary Xi Jinping well on the journey ahead and that they will continue to broaden their friendship and engagement with the CPC and people of China.

"We are also fully behind China’s defence of its independence and reject the West-sponsored secessionists in Taiwan, which is an integral part of the People’s Republic of China. There’s only one China under the leadership of the CPC, and its globally accepted territories include Hong Kong, Macao, Tibet, and Taiwan. China’s leadership of its people and developing world is commendable," said the EFF.
