Joining the list of popular DJs that have taken amapiano to the global stages are Banele Mbere and Bandile Mbere, who are known as the Major League DJz.
The duo continues to write their names solidly in the entertainment industry as they fulfil their dream of taking their music outside the South African borders.
Having shared their love for music all over the world, with many shows sold out the Major League DJz are thrilled to share their talent with others.
The duo visited the BBC Radio 1 extra studios where they disclosed their star-studded features for their new upcoming album.
Speaking to the BBC Radio host Jeremiah Asiamah the pair revealed that their list for the next album would include Jorja Smith, Tinie Tempah, Ty Dolla $ign, Mahalia, and Stefflon Don. They also hint at a possible Drake collaboration.
During the interview, Major League DJz also hinted that they are waiting on a potential collaboration with hip-hop superstar, Drake: “But we need the big OVO (Drake) to confirm, that’s what we need.”
Over the past couple of years, they have taken the world by storm, most recently performing at the world’s most iconic music festival, Coachella, bringing the much-loved sounds of amapiano to a global stage.
They have been two of the biggest and most vocal advocates for the South African-born genre of amapiano, which just this week was officially added to the list of standalone genre categories on Beatport.
Early this month the pair was in London where the arena was sold out. Taking to Instagram they said it was a career-defining moment for them to announce that they sold out at the Academy Brixton London.
“Taking piano to the world was just a dream. Immersing this sound to audiences across the globe has been a humbling experience. We knew we needed Brixton 02 Academy as it’s seen as a rite of passage for musicians and it marks a career-defining moment we will forever hold dear to our hearts.”
They further thanked their fans for their consistent love and support.
“To our fans, thank you for the continued love, our team, we don’t take for granted the endless hours you put in to make sure we realise our dreams. To all piano, artists working day and night to put this sound out to the world.”
