Mpho Mvundla, who was overflowing with gratitude, reflected on her victory after host Lawrence Maleki had made the announcement.

“I am feeling really good. I am happy to be the first female in Mzansi to win. This is big for me. Shout out, Big Brother, I love you. Thank you Mzansi, you did the most for me,” she said.

The show kicked off with 18 house mates vying for the grand prize of R2 million.

When they decided to leave their families more than 70 days ago, they knew it was not going to be smooth sailing, but they fixed their eyes on the prize.

It was 10 weeks packed with highs and lows, where viewers and house mates experienced drama, betrayal, laughter, joy and sadness.

Viewers knew they were in for a fun voyage when the show started in January and within a few days they were hooked.

The show garnered attention on social media, topping trends frequently.

TV personality Maleki, the host, added to the entertainment with his sense of humour.

Director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, Shirley Adonisi, had also expressed excitement about the new season.

“We can’t wait for viewers to tune in to what’s certainly going to be a very exciting season,” Adonisi said.

The show brought back a spark of excitement that viewers needed at home as they anticipated friendships being formed and romances being kindled.

Some house mates have remained relevant despite being evicted, having built up a solid fan base who want to see them flourish even though they did not win the Big Brother Mzansi competition.
