Nontobeko Sibisi has managed to reinvent herself after her news days. The vibrant journalist now co-hosts the recently launched DStv channel Moja Love with Unathi Nkayi, KG Moeketsi and Abigail Visagie.
The Star asked her a few questions about her new role on Show Me Love:
The Star: What is the one thing you want the audience to know about you?
That I’m a person, a spiritual being that is also on this life journey. Navigating, learning, unlearning, laughing, blushing, sharing, conversing, being vulnerable, honest and just being unapologetically me.
Did you go through an audition phase or were you picked for the show?
I got a call from one of the bosses at the channel who appreciates my work, I didn’t think much of it. But a couple of screen tests later I was fortunate to find myself on the Show Me Love seat. Moral of the story, always be your best self, operate in your truest element - you never know who is watching.
What does the show mean to you?
It really is a lot of love. We are four strongly opinionated women who have bonded beyond just being co-hosts. The channel is structured a lot around love, and our show is about articulating love. For me it’s a lot of showing love, talking love, sharing love, self-love, being honest about love.
What do you hope the audience will get from the show?
Us coming together means a lot of talking, a lot of sharing and engaging in conversations that we would ordinarily have with our friends and family at home. We navigate through everyday issues, creating a space for conversation, sharing truth and laughter around topics of relationship, culture, spirituality, etc.
What does love mean to you?
Love is a higher calling, a higher feeling that can be best served and received in action, in kindness, in care and in speech.
How do you express love on a daily basis?
I say it - when I do, I look into that person’s eyes to make sure they know I’m present in that moment. I show it in my care, in my acts of kindness and in my personality."
