Acclaimed award-winning contemporary visual artist Trevor Stuurman is set to host his first solo exhibition titled A Place Called Home, curated by and art curator Botho Project Space from May 20 to June 19.
This much-anticipated exposition will narrate Stuurman’s journey and story with a reminder that a home is a place of belonging.
The Kimberley-born artist unpacked how the home he was born in is a theme that interprets everything he creates and filters into the spaces he occupies.
“Home is the place where we surrender to our vulnerability. A space meant for people to be moulded and ultimately thrive in. It is where humans discover their own version of comfort, solace and meaning. Home is a place where one is known. Home is also the centre point that allows us to navigate the world,” said Stuurman.
The exhibition is an expression of “home”, which is dear to his heart. He said it brings back the feeling of being woken up by a loved one at the first light of dawn.
A Place Called Home is also about the conversation bringing more people together and building a culture of community.
Stuurman partnered with the furniture and home ware retailer Weylandts to give the exhibition an authentic design.

He further added that a home is more than just four walls detailing that a house becomes a home as emotions are felt and personal style is expressed.
The attendees of this much-anticipated solo exhibition will get to dress in their Sunday best, gather around the table with their loved ones and enjoy amazing conversation, food and music.
