Convicted insurance serial killer Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu made another appearance in court yesterday, this time for plotting to murder her former boss – an officer investigating her from behind bars.
Ndlovu appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, neatly dressed with fresh make-up on. She is being accused of plotting the murder of her former station commander, Nthipe Boloka, and the investigating officer who gathered evidence against her, Benneth Mabunda.
Ndlovu was not alone in the dock. She was joined by her friend, Nomsa Mudau, who was a police officer at the Norkem Park police station. Mudau and Ndlovu are accused of conspiring to murder Justice Mudau, Nomsa’s husband.
Justice was present in court yesterday and he told the media that he was relieved that his ex-wife was finally getting her day in court. He was warned by the man who was supposed to carry out the hit on him that his life was in danger.
The Star understands that Nomsa was supposed to benefit by at least R3 million from her ex-husband's death.
Ndlovu and the heavily pregnant Nomsa stood next to each other in the dock but did not say a word to each other. Nomsa also told the court that she was due to give birth this month.
The Star understands that her marriage to Justice fell apart after revelations that she had plotted to kill him. She had reportedly left justice with their young children and moved out of the house. Justice had reported the matter to the police in 2018 but it had not been tested in court.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Louw confirmed to The Star that Ndlovu was able to plot the murder of her former station commander and the investigating officer from behind bars.
“The state is alleging that while she was attending the trial she plotted to have the commander and the investigating officer killed,” said Louw.
Louw said the police had launched a manhunt for a man who was supposed to help Ndlovu carry out the murders.
Meanwhile, Ndlovu, who trotted around the courtroom in her heels, told the court that she would like to have legal representation from Legal Aid South Africa.
She said she was surprised to find out on Tuesday that she would be in court on Wednesday.
Her mother-to-be accused friend Nomsa also asked for legal aid. However, she was not kept in custody but released on warning. She appeared in court with a blue blanket wrapped around her belly.
Ndlovu posed for a picture and could be seen trying to fix her eyelashes as she approached the dock. She is serving multiple life sentences for the murders of her relatives whom she used as cash cows in insurance claims.
Ndlovu’s arrest came after swift police work as she was planning to murder her sister Joyce Ndlovu and her children. The ex-police woman and co-accused will be back in the dock again on May 25.
Ndlovu was found guilty of the murders of: Witness Madala Homu in March 2012, cashing in R131 000 from insurance policies; sister Audrey Ndlovu (killed in 2013), cashing in R717 000; boyfriend Morris Mabasa, cashing in R416 000, niece Zanele Motha (who died in June 2016), cashing in R120 000 from the insurance, and Mayeni Mashaba, who died in 2017.
