#TechPage Review: ACER Swift 5
It's sleek and slim, it’s portable, and so light that you can slip it into your handbag if you’re in a hurry to get to a meeting without having to be burdened by a laptop bag.
That’s the Acer 15-inch Swift 5 Notebook, which weighs just less than 1kg, making it ideal for people who are always on the go.
Powered by Windows 10, Swift 5 is fitted with a 1.6GHz Intel core processor, which is not the fastest but is acceptable as it’s compensated for by the 8GB dual core, which increases processing speed. This makes the Swift 5 a great computer for both business and personal use.
However, it may not be such a great machine for those working with animations and other tasks that require big software as it will be a tad slow.
Users will be pleased with the screen, which is a full HD IPS[i] touch screen featuring ultra-narrow bezels measuring just 5.87mm, which gives it an incredible 87.6% screen-to-body ratio.
In addition, the Swift 5 features. Acer Color Intelligence technology, which dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation in real time, optimising screen colour and brightness without clipping or over-saturation, while Acer BluelightShield technology allows adjusting of the screen’s blue-light emission over extended periods of use.
The Acer Swift 5’s battery life is also a plus, particularly for those who are working in environments where they may not be plugged in for hours on end, such as journalists on field work or those doing presentations in remote areas.
It also has one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port (10GB data transfer, supporting power delivery and display output), two USB 3.1 Type-A ports (one with power-off charging functionality), an HDMI port and an SD card reader.
To achieve the sleek look, the Swift 5 was constructed with advanced materials including ultra-light magnesium- lithium alloys for the top and bottom cover, and magnesium-aluminium alloys for extra sturdiness on the palm-rest area. The Swift 5’s LED-backlit keyboard makes it easier to work at night.
