Norway has the nerve to lecture us on environment pollution when it’s also a culprit

It was laughable to read your article (April 12, Guardians of Norway’s SWF) and quoting their finance minister, Jan Tore Sanner, pontificating that “we cannot ignore any more, environmental, social and governance issues and strict ethical guidelines”.

How noble of him, as we are frequently told of the green credentials of Norway and that we, all around the world, must try to emulate it – but all this is a mirage.

More than 99% of mainland Norway’s electricity production comes from hydropower. However, it is time to take a holistic view. Norway dredges up more oil per capita than most countries. Most of the oil and gas produced by Norway is not used at home, but is exported. In fact, this country is one of the world’s top fossil fuel exporters and so helps to increase pollution.

Yet Norway still claims to be green and has the gall to lecture us. So why do we have to bend to the will of top polluting nations and shut down our coal mines and power stations and throw thousands out of work?

Then we have Greta Thunberg from Sweden, who lectures and points fingers at the rest of the world, but has never uttered a word about Norway, their next-door neighbour. I know she has an impediment, but is she deaf and blind as well or have her handlers told her to look the other way?
