TWO men were expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court today following the death of a Ventersdorp man they allegedly assaulted after making fun of his beard.

The men, aged 27 and 33, will be facing charges of murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm following last Monday’s incident.

They are alleged to have made fun of Mohammed Kazi’s beard at a Chicken Licken outlet in Magaliesburg, then attacking him and his father’s friend, Anser Mahmood.

Kazi Llater died at a Potchefstroom hospital, prompting Mahmood to press charges at the Magaliesburg police station the following day, said police spokesman Brigadier Neville Malila.

“Members of the police arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Rustenburg late last night [Saturday]. A second suspect handed himself over this morning [Sunday] in the presence of his legal representative at the Magaliesburg police station,” Malila said. – Staff Reporter
