Durban - The 4-year-old Phoenix girl who was brutally beaten, allegedly by her mother and her lover last month, remains in a stable condition in hospital.
But while undergoing physiotherapy to help strengthen her legs, she has contracted chickenpox, her aunt said.
“Although the swelling on both her legs has gone down they remain weak.
"With the help of the therapy, we are praying she will start walking soon. She is also undergoing counselling to help her deal with the trauma of the assault.”

The assault was recorded, allegedly by the 20-year-old boyfriend.
The clip shows a woman smacking, punching and kicking the girl a total of 46 times.
The 25-year-old mother and her lover have been charged with attempted murder.
