Attempted murder charges withdrawn against alleged 'Blood Gangs' member

Durban - Kelvin Perisamy, who is allegedly part of a notorious gang known as the Blood Gangz appeared in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. 

Perisamy was charged with attempted murder a stabbing incident which took place in Phoenix in January.

On Wednesday the State withdrew charges against Perisamy and his co-accused Shaun Mawisa. 

However Perisamy, remains in police custody following his arrest earlier this year for alleged possession of drugs. 

Perisamy and six others including his brother Kevin Perisamy and sister-in-law, Desiree, were arrested after police recovered R80000 worth of drugs in their home. 

In addition, police recovered two pistols, a shotgun, 64 live rounds of ammunition, 1 836 heroin caps, 138 heroin straws, 80 large crack cocaine pieces, 30 mandrax tablets, three bags of cocaine, ecstasy and dagga was recovered. 

A sum of R97 000, suspected to be the proceeds from drugs, was also confiscated.

However, family have denied that they are affiliated to any gangs. 

The seven accused are facing charges of dealing in drugs, failing to safeguard firearms, assault, crimen injuria and resisting arrest. 

All were denied bail, except Desiree who is currently out on bail. 

They are expected to appear back in court on December 11.
