Durban - One person has been fatally shot following an armed robbery at a bank in Chris Hani Road in Briardene, Durban.
According to Kyle van Reenen from Crisis Medical Rescue, paramedics arrived on scene to find a male patient had sustained a single gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
"Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do to save the man and he was declared deceased on arrival," said van Reenen adding that the victim was approximately 30 years old.
He said according to reports from the scene an armed gunmen entered the bank, robbing the man before firing a shot striking him in the chest.

"An unknown amount of money was taken before the suspect fled in an unknown awaiting vehicle."
Van Reenen said the scene was secured and SAPS would be investigating further.
He added that no one else was injured during the attack.
