Durban - The man accused of murdering a woman whose half-naked body was discovered in an abandoned building in Tongaat made a brief appearance in the Verulam Magistrate's Court today.

Siphiwe Fiso Mthembu, 23, has been charged for the murder Komell Pillay, 22 whose body was found on July 7.

Mthembu made a brief appearance in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Thursday for bail consideration.

The State said it had to postpone as Mthembu's place of residence still had to verified.

His legal aid attorney told the court that Mthembu lived in the Tongaat vicinity but was unable to disclose his exact address.

He said he would be able to point out his home if taken to his area.

State prosecutor, Winnie Mlangeni said they were unsure at this stage if they would be opposing bail.

According to family members, Pillay who was fondly known as Delicia, failed to return home after she went to a local nightclub with a female friend on the Saturday night (July 6).

Speaking to POST shortly after the murder, Komell's sister, Desray Gounden, said they tried to make contact with her on the Sunday but Pillay did not have her phone with her.

The family later received a call from police stating Pillay’s body was found in an abandoned building in Brake Village.
