Suspects arrested for Bluff woman's murder due in court

DURBAN – The two suspects charged for the murder of a 77-year- old Bluff woman are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Friday. 

According to police the suspects aged 32 and 42 faces charges of murder and robbery. 

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Durban Search and Rescue found the woman's decomposed body rolled in a carpet in the bathtub of her Grafton Road, Bluff home. 

According to Durban Metro police spokesperson Parbhoo Sewpersad she was struck by a blunt object and victim was found with her hands tied and showed signs of being strangled.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said it alleged that the victim's tenants saw suspicious activities in the yard from September 18. 

"The suspects were seen loading goods belonging to the victim. After the suspects left the premises, the victim was never seen again by the tenants which made them more worried," said Mbele. 

She confirmed the woman's body was discovered on September 24. 

"A case of murder and robbery was opened at Brighton Beach police station for further investigation. Through hard work, the police officers traced and arrested the suspects."
