Durban - A  2,2 metre male black mamba was spotted in Bardia Avenue in Reservoir Hills a short while ago.

Snake catcher, Nick Evans said this was the fourth black mamba found in Bardia Avenue this week and attributed the spike was to mating season.

He said this could have been one of the two elusive black mambas spotted in Reservoir Hills this week.

"However we are not certain."

Evans said the snake was spotted by an estate agent and security guard at the Highland Hills Complex.

It was curled up under old boxes on a patio.

"They immediately contacted me. They did the right thing by not trying to kill it, but watched it until I got there."

He said it was always important to keep an eye on the snake before it disappears, as it would unlikely be found again.

Evans said residents were relieved following the rescue.

He said the snake would be released back into its natural habitat.
