Durban - The interview of 12 candidates to fill vacancies at the SABC board has been rescheduled by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications to November 6.

This is due to "unforeseen circumstances", including a prolonged process of screening candidates.

The initial date of the interviews was October 30, 2018.

The candidates include Kevan Jones, Adv Motshedi Lekalakala, Thabo Leshile, Diliza Madikiza, Unathi Magwentshu, Vuyokazi Makhubalo, Adv Methews Mofokeng, Bernedette Muthien, Mergan Naidoo, Thozama Nene, Michael Nurick and Jasmina Patel.

According to Humphrey Maxegwana, Chairperson of the committee, they were briefed by the Independent Communication Authority of South Africa (ICASA) on Tuesday with regard to the Sports Broadcasting Regulations.

"The chairperson of the ICASA’s Sports Broadcasting Regulations Committee, Palesa Kadi, said that the draft regulations will be published by the end of November 2018, and thereafter the public will be invited to submit inputs."

"The committee will invite ICASA back to get a report with regard to the final regulations before the end of March 2019."
