Durban - A four-year-old boy was injured after a vehicle crashed into his home in Tongaat. 

According to Prem Balram, director of Reaction Unit South Africa, a Toyota Hilux bakkie lost control and crashed into a home in Gandhi's Hill just after midnight on Saturday. 

KZN police said they were unaware of the incident as no such case had not been opened by Tuesday. 

Balram said the driver of the vehicle was injured and was taken to  hospital by a private ambulance service.

"Two occupants of the home which included a 40 year old woman and a 4 year old boy sustained minor injuries. They were transported privately to a medical facility."

Balram said the house was extensively damaged in the accident and the circumstances surrounding the accident is under investigation. 
 
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said it was important for the public to open cases in order for investigations to be done.
