Missing Chatsworth pensioner found floating in Silverglen dam

Durban  - The body of a missing Chatsworth pensioner was found floating in a dam at the Silverglen Nature Reserve on Monday. 

The 68-year-old woman and her son were reported missing on Thursday. 

On Monday police divers from Durban Search and Rescue recovered the woman's body. It was found floating among the reeds. 

According to KwaZulu Natal police spokesperson, Lt Colonel Thulani Zwane, it is alleged that the victim was murdered and her body was dumped. 

“The son is still missing and police are still looking for him."

Zwane said a case of murder had been opened. 

According to a source, who is not authorised to speak to the media, the pensioner who is a paraplegic lived with her son who was her caregiver. 

The son's vehicle was found at the nature reserve on Thursday, however, there were no signs of him or his mother. 

The family could not be reached for comment on Tuesday morning.
