Snorkeling with seals on Duiker Island

Cape Fur seals occur naturally on islands around the southern African coast and are found nowhere else in the world. Duiker Island in Hout Bay is home to about 5 000 seals and lies within the Karbonkelberg marine protected area, part of Table Mountain National Park, Cape Town. Those who visit can get up close and personal with the seal through snorkelling.

Shark cage diving at Ushaka

If you are like me, and would not want to risk going in the ocean then The Shark cage experience at Ushaka Marine World is for you. The beautiful sharks swim around the cage and you get up close to them. I did it last year and loved it. I am definitely gathering a group of friends for round 2. To shark dive, one has to be older than 12 and be physically and mentally fit.

Price: R185 for 15 minutes in the water.

Bungee jump ‘highest bungee from a bridge’ in the world

Imagine bungee jumping in one of the highest bungee jumps from a bridge. Well, one can do so from 216 meters high. The view of the Bloukrans River valley in Tsitsikamma sets the tone to a great jump. And do not worry too much about safety as Bloukrans Bungy uses a pendulum bungee technology to ensure the smoothest, most comfortable bungee jump possible. Jumpers are secured in a full body harness combined with an ankle connection.

Where: Bloukrans Bridge, N2 Highway, Tsitsikamma

Price: R950.
