The luxury lodge reopened on September 2018 and is part of a joint venture between Wilderness Safaris and the Marienfluss Conservancy. The lodge undertook a redesign to enhance the natural features of the desert scape, and for guests to take a glimpse into the lives of the Himba community, Wilderness Safaris’said in a statement.

The 8 luxury guestrooms overlook the Kunene River. Karen Munting from Windhoek-based Munting Rechholtz Architects said Serra Cafema’s main area imitates the structure of a Himba village

“The buildings are arranged to connect to each other via different outdoor spaces to ensure privacy,” she said in a statement.

There is plenty to see and do. Among the activities include nature drives and walks in Hartmann's Valley, a visit to the Himba Community, quad biking excursion and dune excursions.

Foodies can expect a combination of modern cuisine and local traditional meals, including chardonnay mussels and kingklip wrapped in Black Forest ham and served on a bed of Niçois.
