Flight Centre Travel Group’s newly formed company FCTG Corporate (Pty) Ltd – comprising Flight Centre Business Travel, Corporate Traveller and Stage & Screen – has for the first time achieved Level 4 BEE rating.

This subsidiary of Flight Centre Travel Group (Pty) Ltd was launched earlier this year to consolidate the remainder of the Group’s corporate travel brands under one roof  (with FCM Travel Solutions (Pty) Ltd being registered as a separate business in 2013).

With this move and with transformation in mind, FCTG has created a 30% black women employee shareholder ownership trust for black female staff of the entire group. A similar shareholding scheme for FCM Travel Solutions last month saw the company distribute R310,000 among 17 employees who are part of the scheme.

“Our goal is to drive broad-based black economic transformation and empower many within the company through this shareholding scheme,” explains FCTG Middle East and Africa MD, Andrew Stark.

“To this end FCTG Corporate PTY Ltd has created a 30% black women employee shareholder ownership trust, which will benefit over 200 of the travel company’s black female employees.”

The company has also recently appointed a new board to guide its strategy, including Lebogang Ntoagae, Corporate Product Leader; Oz Desai, GM Corporate Traveller; and Tebogo Thekisho, aka ProVerb, who joins the board as non-executive director.

“Achieving a Level 4 BEE rating shows we are on the path to empowering our staff, and are a committed member of South Africa’s business community meeting our transformation goals,” concludes Stark.

Flight Centre Travel Group South Africa last year achieved an annual turnover of over R5.4-billion in sales, changing its name to Flight Centre Travel Group to reflect the growth and extent of its diversified brands across the three pillars of leisure, corporate, and wholesale.
