Live like a local, that is what Cape Town Tourism hopes to achieve with their Insider Guide Series.

Yolande Botha from Cape Town Tourism said that every month they will feature a different neighbourhood in the city to offer tourists more local experiences.

“We found that many travellers want to live like a local and have authentic experiences, which means that they want to interact with locals, go to places that locals like socialising at and have experiences that are close to home.everyday citizens have.

“The idea is to get tourists to not only visit tourist spots, but also to incorporate smaller experiences that will enrich them and help them make memories,” she said.

The videos has received positive engagement on social media with users curious to know more.

Whether it's  learning more about a community in Bo-Kaap to understanding the great entrepreneurial spirit in Khayelitsha, the videos helps tap into the people and its offerings.

Botha said the process of making the videos involved interviewing locals, hearing their stories and choosing what to include in the 5 minute clip.

“There is so much great potential in these towns and we are glad that it is being brought to life. Our next neighbourhood is Mitchells Plain where the street art, comedy clubs and dance culture will be explored,” she added.
