Hilton Durban has currently completed a major R200 million refurbishment. The full project will be scheduled for completion in 2018 after completing the meetings and banqueting facilities. The refurbishment project has already included the lobby and Big Easy Winebar & Grill Durban by Ernie Els, which recently won the Silver award status at the 2017 A’ Design Awards in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Category.  Conversion of what was formerly a bar to an exclusive Business Lounge, redesigning all its suites – including the Presidential Suite - with a fresh, new aesthetic feel.

The latest addition is the new Vasco restaurant, a vibrant all-day dining restaurant which draws on the best of local and international cuisine.  The sweeping show kitchen, which doubles as the buffet, includes a tandoor oven, pasta station and grill station as well as hot, ambient and chilled displays. Markus Fritz, general manager at Hilton Durban said the hotel refurbishment was initiated in order to align it with the Hilton brand values and architecture. The revamp coincides with next month's Tourism Indaba.

"The entire team is thrilled to be welcoming guests into our newly renovated hotel. We have always listened to our loyal guests and what they loved about staying with us and we learned that Hilton Durban is a top choice for visitors to Durban because of its iconic location, breath-taking views of Indian Ocean and Durban city and keeping the modern traveler in mind, giving them the technology, flexibility, personalization and convenience of their stay that they need," he said.
