Instagram pic of the day: Le Mont Saint-Michel

First of all, this shot is simply stunning. 

Le Mont Saint-Michel, an island commune in Normandy, France, is largely known as a place of Christian pilgrimage. 

According to a French tourism website, "Aubert, bishop of the nearby hilltop town of Avranches early in the 8th century, claimed that the Archangel Michael himself pressured him into having a church built atop the island just out to sea."

Beautiful, classic museums and restaurants are scattered across the island. Apart from tourist visitation (the island is visited by more than 3 million people every year), there isn't much happening on this island. I mean, it has a population of less than 100.
