Reality TV star Nazley Delport tells Clinton Moodley of her travels:

Bunjee jumping in Victoria Falls.

First holiday memory?

Growing up in Cape Town, we were blessed to have some of the best beaches in the country. We often went to Camps Bay beach and Clifton with the entire family and would spend the entire day there.

Favourite place in SA?

Cape Town.

Best holiday?

That has to hands down be my first vacation in Monaco and St. Tropez. I was in my early 20s and everything was so fascinating to me.

Landing in Nice on a helicopter and partying and staying on massive yachts in St. Tropez to visiting the best nightclubs in the world. I saw so many international celebrities dock their yachts right off shore at Nikki beach in St Tropez, getting invited to party and rub shoulders with some of these A-listers was nothing short of a dream come true for any free spirited young lady from the Cape Flats.

What have you learnt from your travels?

I started travelling when I was around 19 and didn’t know much. At that point my biggest mission was to have fun and experience as many countries as possible.

But as I have grown and travelled, I started to really appreciate the vastness of the world, the different cultures and cuisine and the architecture.

I started truly experiencing life in all these strange beautiful places I travelled.

I learnt how to be self reliant, resilient, adaptable and it humbled me.

It taught me awareness and how to tap into and trust my gut feeling, cause as a young girl travelling world you have to be smart and vigilant about who you trust. But I thank God that I was always safe.

Ideal travel companion?

My best friend.

Beach bum, culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?

I am a bit of all. During my earlier years of travelling I was for sure a beach bum.

As I grew and matured as a traveller I certainly appreciate the cultures more. I am also the eternal adrenaline junkie, I once bungee jumped off the Victoria Falls.

Greatest travel luxury?

Shopping for unique pieces you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the world. It is the little things in life I love the most.

Holiday reading?

I love to read. I like reading biographies and magazines. I do find myself reading self development books more and more the older I get.

Enjoying the Palazzo Hotel.

Which place has seduced you?

Italy. I fell in love with Italy and Rome. Everything about the culture, the fashion, the architecture, and the passion and expressiveness of its people.

I loved going to watch the football games with my friends and taking walks all around the city exploring with nothing but a backpack and my iPod. Molto Bellisima.

Worst travel experience:

I was in Colombia with my friend at the time. We had travelled from Rome to Venezuela where she was from to Colombia.

She was really a new a friend and did not speak English that well.

I remember us having a fall out and she left. I was lost for most of the day in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

As I wandered the streets I went through all types of emotions, especially since it was a place where kidnapping of tourists were a thing.

I have never prayed so hard, thankfully I found someone who assisted me and we figured out where I stayed.

Best Hotel?

The Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. It is excellence on another level.

Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?

I love taking scenic walks.

Best meal abroad?

Crepes. It must be the savoury crepes in France.

Favourite City?

Rome and Paris as a very close second.

Where to next

Asia is calling.
