First holiday memory?
July in 2014, can’t exactly remember the date.
That was my first proper holiday, in Botswana at the Khutse Lodge, about 10 kilometres before Khutse Game reserve.
My friend and I decided to take on a safari escapade.
We were going camping and we were excited and afraid at the same time because we had never camped before.
Favourite place in SA?
My favourite place in South Africa takes me to KwaZulu-Natal, in the Drakensberg.
Surrounded by mountains, there is a place called Underberg. It’s so breathtaking, ever green, raining all the time.
My best holiday was when I was in Cape Town alone.
I met quite a number of interesting foreigners who were around on holiday, too.
I even went hiking up and down Table Mountain with one tourist from Russia and two from Germany.
What have you learnt from your travels?
Travelling has made me a better social person.
I used to be very introverted, but now I get along with a lot of people almost instantly, and I think this is primarily because of new faces I have to interact with every time I am in a new place.

Ideal travelling companion?
That’s my camera. I would never go on a holiday and leave my DSLR.
I am a professional photographer and I want to always to have high-quality pictures.
Beach bum, culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?
No, don’t at all.
I do not really like hotels, they aren’t so homely, but one that I have been to that I really liked was the Majestic Five hotel in Palapye, Botswana.
Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?
I love the drive from Kimberly to Cape Town.
I also enjoy the drive from Gaborone to Maung in Botswana. It is filled with interesting scenery. You get to see a lot of wildlife as well.
Best meal abroad?
A meal I had in Zimbabwe of rice cooked with peanut butter, served with biltong stew.
Where to next?
I will be going overseas. Istanbul and Sydney are next.
