First holiday memory?

My first holiday memory has to be when I was about 8. We went on a family holiday to Arniston. All my cousins and I went swimming at the beach. My older brother and cousin, however, didn’t realise swimming in the ocean with a pool noodle was the worst idea.

It was fun till the current took them deeper and deeper into the ocean where they could no longer stand. Panic ensued. I called out to my uncle, who was playing volleyball: “Uncle! My boeta is drowning and there are sharks in the water!” Two seconds later my dad with all his belongings ran into the water and saved them.

It was scary until we all had a good laugh later.

Favourite place in South Africa?

Cape Town CBD and a Cape Town beach.

Best holiday?

Another family trip to Club Mykonos in Langebaan. This time I was lucky enough to take my best friend. He is quite the ladies’ man, so there was no predicting how the day/evening would end.

All we knew was that the end would be glorious. I remember him crying over a girl because he was too drunk. It was all just too good. Every moment.

What have you learnt from your travels?

That once you see the world and all the beautiful places in it, you realise what we have in South Africa is truly one of a kind.

We may not have the luxury of an efficient train system and have a currency that leaves a lot to be desired, but we have a beautiful country and beautiful, happy people who open the doors to any and everyone. I really love my country. #ProudlySouthAfrican

Ideal travel companion?

Sandile Zulu - he’s my dance opposite, room-mate and best friend. He is both hilarious and intelligent. We help each other get through good and bad times.

Beach bum, culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?

I’m definitely a beach bum. Whenever I get the chance to go to Cape Town, which is home, the beach is the first place where you’ll find me. But I also enjoy being upside down, flipping and doing crazy adrenalin-rush things. So I suppose I’m both an adrenalin junkie and beach bum.

Greatest travel luxury?

Travel pillow, cellphone and headphones.

Holiday reading?

I love reading all the latest online websites, as well as any great magazines to help me relax.

Which place has seduced you?

Lithuania had me doing all the extra things. It is such an underrated country. The people are so friendly and beautiful. I had a week off there and ended up spending way too much money. That’s how good it was.

Worst travel experience?

When I dislocated my ankle right at the start of a three-month tour. It made my life hell, as I had no replacement and still had to perform every show.

Best hotel?

The Red Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. I stayed there with friends while taking part in a Hip Hop International contest. Our crew was Brooklyn Brotherhood.

Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?

Driving through the countryside in New Zealand, North Island.

Best meal abroad?

New Zealand makes the best fish and chips, and pies.

Favourite city?

Vilnius, Lithuania.

Where to next?

I’m in Cape Town for a month dancing in The Greatest Love of All - The Whitney Houston Show at the Artscape Opera House. Next up is a tour of the UK.
