Avani Fares Maldives Resort will be located on Fares Island in the Baa Atoll and will cost US$70 million (R926m).

The development is a joint venture partnership between Minor Hotels and Cyprea Group. It will comprise of  200 guest rooms, including standard rooms and a selection of villas.

Also on site is a spa, kids club, swimming facilities and a pool bar. There is also water sports available nearby, including  reef and snorkelling. While developments are underway, the resort will be easily accessible for travellers with the resort 45 minutes away by plane from Male and 30 minutes by speedboat from the newly opened domestic airport on Baa Atoll.

Alejandro Bernabe, group director Avani Hotels & Resorts told Breaking Travel News that the Avani design philosophy is relaxed and contemporary and in tune with the environment of this development.

He said they will use natural textures, colours and materials that reflect the location while incorporating advanced technology and modern conveniences.
