Mauritius is a paradise unlike any other on the continent - perhaps even the world. Beautiful beaches, incredibly diverse marine life, tropical weather all year round and some of the most hospitable people you'll ever meet are place this paradise island in a league of its own.

Following my stay in Mauritius over the past week, I got to experience this beauty first hand, and here are a few places you need to check out during your visit in mauritius:

Club Med Albion La Plantation d'Albion

I spent the 3rd of June until yesterday morning at this breathtaking all-inclusive resort in the south of Mauritius. The resort's all-inclusive offering means that your booking covers accommodation, all meals, select beverages (all drinks, with the exception of premium alcohol), activities within the resort and entertainment (and select kids clubs).

Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth

On our first full day during the trip, we visited this natural phenomenon of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours - red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow. This phenomenon features colors that evolved through a conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. You won't believe it until you see it with your own eyes.

The Rhumerie de Chamarel Distillery

One of my favourite experiences in Mauritius, the guided tour of the distillery provided some insight into the rum making process. After we enjoyed an exceptional lunch at the distillery's restaurant, we also had a tasting session of the range of the selection of rum available here. This distillery also features a shop with a wide selection of rum, from which I purchased a a bottle of the Chamarel Premium Rum - VS. What an experience.
