Keegan Basil of the Keegan B Show, a travel show on YouTube, and one of the top 3 winners of Social Star, an online competition held by Samsung, shares some of his travel memories.
What is your favourite place in South Africa?
It would have to be Cape Town, not only was I born and raised in the Mother City, but I think after you’ve travelled abroad you really grow a much fonder respect for the beauty and heritage that Cape Town has.
What have you learnt from your travels?
That knowledge is definitely power and that your soul longs to be renewed and rejuvenated every now and again, and travelling allows for nothing less that just that.
Ideal travelling companion?
I absolutely hate the airport! It gives me anxiety, so travelling with anyone who knows how to get around the airport is my ideal travel companion. I’m yet to meet this person.
Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?
I cried walking up the world heritage site called Le Morne in Mauritius, I swam with dolphins and coral marine life in the Indian ocean, I drove a ‘tuk tuk’ in Africa and
walked the streets eating cultural food in Port Louis.
Best meal abroad?
Dholl Puri. This specific dish is a thin bread stuffed with ground yellow split peas and served with bean curry, atchar and chutney.
Where are you travelling next?
God willing, the Maldives will see me soon.
