Having trouble sleeping lately?  You may just be suffering from technical overload. 

Three days of camping bliss, which entails being completely unplugged from everyday life, will fix it right away. Undoubtedly, the outdoors is crucial for one’s mental health – especially if you are a city dweller.  

Three days alone benefits you in innumerable ways some of which include healthier lungs, a better night’s sleep and quality time with loved ones. 

Camp Master has simplified finding a suitable location to set up camp by referencing a few of SA’s most golden sites which you and your family could enjoy for a couple days. Options from fans varied from locations near the coast to more secluded locations. Here are some of the top favourites according to the Camp Master Facebook community:

ATKV, Drakensville

Where: KwaZulu-Natal

You will find the resort near the foothills of the Drakensberg Amphitheatre, a world heritage site. 

The caravan and camping site is surrounded by historical landmarks and offers unlimited tourist attractions within the vicinity. 

ATKV has both paved stands and lush lawns. They also offer washing-up and ablution facilities. The ablution facilities are wheelchair friendly and each stand has a 15-amp power point and its own braai facilities.

The resort offers a variety of activities for the whole family such as hiking, bird watching, pony rides and horse riding. 

Warmbaths, A Forever Resort

Where: Limpopo

Nestled in an African Bushveld atmosphere. The resort offers 285 caravan and camping sites, equipped with a power supply. These sites are serviced by eight neat ablution facilities.

The resort is well-known for its hydro pools and spa which is great for the family.

Other activities include cable water skies, go-karting and quad biking, foefie slides and a super tube to name a few.

Kruger National Park

Where: Mpumalanga

The home of the Big Five, Kruger National Park is well known for its wildlife and beautiful views that make you one with nature.

Most of the visitor camps offer tent/ caravan sites, with a power supply, communal ablutions and cooking facilities.

Each stand also has its own braai facilities. Apart from game viewing the traditional way, visitors can also book elephant-back safari’s, bush walks, early morning and night drives as well as play a round of Golf at Skukuza’s Golf Course.

Silky Oaks Camp Site, Greyton

Where: The Western Cape

They offer several shaded campsites in secluded nooks along the river’s edge. The resort is solar powered.

The camp site offers bird watching and possible sightings of the resident otter family. The night sky is inviting for all wannabe astronomers.  

Dube Private Game Resort

Where: North West

Dube offers visitors a true dose of African bush mixed with modern amenities and impeccable service, a convenient wildlife sanctuary where you can experience a slice of undisturbed Africa close to home.

They have around 150 spacious grassed camp sites. They are shaded with surrounding trees, equipped with electricity plug points, water taps and refuse bins.

There are four ablution blocks and laundry rooms. The resort offers braai facilities, pools for the young and old and children’s play areas. 

Ifafa Beach Caravan Park

Where: KwaZulu Natal, South Coast

 The resort is situated in an area filled with shady trees and a breath-taking sea view. The premises include an excellent games room, licensed pub and restaurant, with a deck overlooking the freshwater swimming pool, the kiddies play area and the spectacular tidal pool.
