A Equality court case over racist comments allegedly made by the manager of a BMW dealership to his employee was settled out of court on Monday.

Ayanda Dlamini laid a complaint against Erich Tonsing, who manages SMG Group's Durban Approved Repair Centre in Durban, after he allegedly called her a baboon. Dlamini is employed as a receptionist at the dealership.

Dlamini said in her affidavit filed with the court that Tonsing's remarks followed her announcement in February last year that she was going to graduate with a national diploma in human resources from Mangosuthu University of Technology.

The matter was set down for hearing yesterday but the matter was settled in chambers before Magistrate John Saunders.
