Port Elizabeth - A police constable from the Eastern Cape has died after being knocked down while undergoing physical assessment training.

Constable Siyabonga Seti, 31, who was stationed at the Willowvale SAPS, was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Marlow Road, outside Cradock, while jogging as part of his physical assessment training, provincial police said on Thursday.

“Our hearts go out to his loved ones and close colleagues during this difficult time,” said Eastern Cape provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Celiwe Binta

A case of culpable homicide was being investigated.

Binta said the SAPS would provide all the support possible to the bereaved family said the loss of a SAPS member was not only an organisational setback for the SAPS, but to the nation as well.
