Travellers who want to experience a truly authentic Portuguese experience should visit the The Caravela Portuguese Festival at Montecasino.

The event, hosted by The Portuguese Forum of South Africa, will take place from June 29 to July 1, 2018.

In its second year, the festival has brought to life the Portuguese culture and traditions.

Last year, over 25 000 people enjoyed the 3-day festival as they tucked into delicious food, wine and danced to some authentic portuguese music.

Dionne Mudie, one of the organisers of the festival, said the event will celebrate Madeira Day, a holiday marking the date when Portugal granted autonomy to Madeira Island.

“The Caravela Festival aims to promote unity among South Africa`s culturally and linguistically diverse communities. It encourages all South Africans to retain and express their social identity and cultural heritage.

“It is also a fun way to enjoy portuguese culture and entertainment in a beautiful setting,” she said.

This year’s festival will incorporates last year’s winning formula with a few new additions.

International and local artists have been added to the line up and there will be two stages.

Early Bird tickets are now on sale.
