Johannesburg - Satyagraha House, the former Joburg home of Mahatma Gandhi, has opened a bespoke spa offering Ayurvedic treatments using African plants and plant oils.

Satyagraha House, also known as Gandhi House, is a museum and guest house in Orchards that belonged to Mahatma Gandhi when he lived and worked in Joburg from 1908 to 1909.

Visitors can now enjoy a spa experience with Africology products, used by trained Africology therapists.

“Here, the cultures of Africa and India are as one. The philosophical fit with our new Africology partners is ideal,” says Fabrice Dabouineau, director of Voyageurs du Monde, French owners of Satyagraha House.

The Africology-Satyagraha House partnership is expected to increase the flow of house visitors, supporting essential revenue streams to maintain the museum.

Africology founder Renchia Droganis came to prominence as the holistic healer who worked with state prosecutors helping victims of apartheid find the mental strength to testify before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
