It's nearly midnight when we check in at 54 on Bath in Rosebank. There is a chill in the air, but the warmth of my hotel room makes it bearable.

After a day filled with touring Johannesburg, checking into the hotel was what I yearned.

The hotel is best summed as a luxury, opulent and stylish spot for young and old. It's perfect for people wanting to escape city life without actually leaving the lush suburbs that makes up the City of Gold.

My room was filled with all sorts of treats.

On arrival, there was a blondie, a type of brownie topped with caramel, and an ice tea waiting for me. Beside it stood jars of candy and nuts.

The hotel room itself is easy to navigate, separating the bedroom from the bathroom and foyer. It's high bed is perfect for those who are in need a restful sleep. While this hotel does not boast scenic views like most five star establishments usually do, it's a nice spot to unwind and recoup after a long week.

Guests can take selfies at the pool, surrounded by flowers and neatly kept gardens, or tuck into a luxurious breakfast in the courtyard as the birds sing a song to herald a new day.

Breakfast at the courtyard is a treat.

Their breakfast menu includes a fresh basket of pastries, the finest selection of teas, a hot English breakfast of your choice and cleverly plated healthy snacks.

With all the food indulgences the hotel offers, it's a good thing they have a fitness club, which is situated at Rosebank's Planet Fitness Gym at the mall. Speaking of malls, the Rosebank Mall can be accessed from the hotel, meaning that you do not have to walk far to stock up on some Gauteng fashion and souvenirs.

The dining options at 54 on Bath is amazing.

The 75 room hotel offers a restaurant, complimentary WiFi, business center and conferencing facilities. It's location makes it easy to visit the city's iconic spots, including Montecasino Gaming and Entertainment complex, Apartheid Museum and the Wanderers Golf Course.

I found the staff friendly, efficient and hospitable. They made sure we were told the times of breakfast and other activities that were planned at the hotel.

54 on Bath is a getaway with a difference, although like any 5 star hotel you have to splurge a bit to stay here.
