Pumula Beach Hotel is a seaside hotel in the South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal. Pumula has a rustic feel to it and is popular for its stunning beaches.

Best feature:

The famous pool everyone loves.

The pool. No one said a beach hotel can't have a pool — and the pool at Pumula Beach Hotel is always clean and inviting. Located close to the beach, the pool attracts many hotel guests. Another favourite feature of mine is the wooden arrow signs that points to the  beach, pool and food.

Worst feature:

 The chalkboard in the foyer.

Accommodation:

The bedroom is cosy.

The bathroom is modern, but I did not like the toiletries. Pictures: Clinton Moodley.

The  accommodation is good for those who seek a quality hotel, without the huge price tag. With blue, white and sea themed decor, the room is perfect for a night stay. The bed is comfortable and I loved hearing the sound of the sea at night. The shower was modern, but I was not a fan of the toiletries.

Food:

I didn't enjoy the packed breakfast made for us. The cheese and tomato sandwich tasted stale and I didn't like the juice. Served meals could be more appealing to guests.

Stay here if:

You are planning a big family getaway. It's value for money with some of the best views.

Do:

Go to the beach at sunrise. Best views a person could ask for.

Don't:

Venture out into the beach once you had a few alcoholic beverages.
