Durban - Framed by a picturesque, yet rugged landscape, Thula Thula Private Game Reserve is the perfect KwaZulu-Natal bush retreat.

Once the hunting grounds of the mighty King Shaka, the reserve is steeped in rich history.

Taking its name from the Zulu word for peace and tranquillity, Thula Thula lives up to it, providing its visitors with a welcome escape from the city.

Abundant with wildlife, including a majestic breeding elephant herd of former owner, Lawrence Anthony’s best-selling book The Elephant Whisperer, fame, guests will delight in traversing the reserve on both game drives and guided game walks.

Accommodation consists of the Elephant Safari Lodge and a Bedouin-style Tented Camp which borders the scenic Nseleni River.

The tastefully appointed suites of the Elephant Safari Lodge are decorated in an Afro-Colonial style, whilst the romantic Tented Camp is reminiscent of a safari camp of a bygone era.

Each spacious tent boasts a private viewing deck and a luxurious en-suite bathroom, complete with a Victorian bath. Both the lodge and tented camp offer large entertainment areas with lounge areas, bars and swimming pools.

Guests of the lodge are treated to delicious French-inspired cuisine, while more traditional South African fare is served at the Tented Camp.
