Durban - Power giant Eskom has announced that the probability of loadshedding remains low for the week ahead.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Eskom said while the system remained constrained and vulnerable, there is no expectation

"We are currently utilising minimal emergency generation reserves to supplement supply. We remind the public, however, that Eskom may have to implement loadshedding at short notice should the system performance deteriorate," Eskom said.

Unplanned outages or breakdowns were at 11 689MW as at 14:35 today and planned maintenance outages are at 5 016MW.

"Eskom invites all stakeholders to partner with us, through co-operation and responsible management of electricity consumption, so that we may soon emerge from these difficult times of supply constraints. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding so far," Eskom said.

Customers can keep up to date on the loadshedding schedule via https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za or local municipal websites, depending on their electricity supplier, to review amendments.
