The Cape Country Meander is now an aural experience thanks to a double CD that has been launched as a companion tool.

Listen to Once Upon a Time on the Cape Country Meander on your car’s CD player and uncover the history, quirks and fascinating tales of the areas you’re passing through.

Guided by the voice of award-winning actress Bo Petersen, the CD features commentary and interviews with the regions, many interesting characters, including the curator of the Apple Museum, Norma Bridgman, the archaeologist, Mary Patrick, and Genadendal Museum educational officer Samuel Baatjies. The music used on the CD is also largely from the region.

The Cape Country Meander links eight rural towns within an hour of one another in the Theewaterskloof area; they include Elgin, Bot River, Caledon, Greyton, Genadendal, Riviersonderend, Tesselaarsdal and Villiersdorp.

The CD is available for R80 from the various tourism offices in the region or by e-mailing [email protected]. - Weekend Argus
