Wildekrans Country house is located in the Houw Hoek valley - next door to the Houw Hoek Hotel - an hours drive from Cape Town.

A few years ago the owner Alison Green introduced the The Green Mountain Trail - a 4-day moderate walking trail with distances varying between 11kms and 18kms each day. The effort level, as gauged by Slackpacker South Africa, is set at 3.5 with 5 being the most difficult.

Crossing privately-owned fynbos and fruit farms the trail meanders around the Groenlandberg, part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. Guided by THETA accredited guides hikers learn about the biodiversity and the history of the area

Evenings are spent in 4-star country guesthouses, providing superb cuisine throughout the journey.

All landowners are members of the Green Mountain Eco Route, the world’s first biodiversity wine route, as part of the region’s efforts to conserve the environment and promote responsible tourism.

The Green Mountain Trail starts with check in on Monday afternoon and ends on Friday after lunch.

The hike includes Cape Floral Kingdom knowledgeable guides, 4-star farm stays, all meals country style, trail snacks, personalized wine tastings, a community walking stick and VAT.

Should a group of family and friends include non or part walkers, there are activities at the lodges and the non-walkers have the opportunity to join most of the other activities with the group as well.
