Senior citizens living or travelling to Gauteng will be pleased to know that they can spend a day at the zoo for free. 

The National Zoological Gardens of South Africa in Pretoria offers 4 free days for senior citizens throughout the year. This year, the free visit will be on Tuesday, November 7. 

Senior citizens can enjoy entrance to the zoo, aquarium and reptile park from 8.30am. 

Seniors will also be treated to tea and cake at the Zoo’s Flamingo Restaurant from 9am, but be aware that this will be on a first come, first serve basis. T

he restaurant will also prepare a special meal for the pensioners. The National Zoological Gardens of South Africa is an 85-hectare zoo home to mammals, birds and reptiles. 

Known as the largest zoo in the country and the only one with national status, more than 600 000 people visit the zoo annually. The third largest collection of exotic trees can be found at the zoo. Bookings for the meal are essential.
