Johannesburg - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, one of the world’s premier luxury hotel groups, has announced a partnership with South African Airways’ frequent flyer programme, SAA Voyager, providing guests with more opportunities to earn and redeem benefits through both organisations’ global networks.

Known for its philosophy of “hospitality from the heart”, Shangri-La operates more than 80 hotels and resorts across 18 countries – many of which are serviced by SAA.

As part of the new venture, SAA Voyager members can earn 500 miles for each stay at any Shangri-La, Traders or Kerry hotel. The miles can be redeemed for travel with SAA or one of its partners.

To celebrate the launch of the new alliance, SAA Voyager members who book Shangri-La’s Best Available Rate between now and February 28 can earn triple miles with three consecutive night stays or double miles with two consecutive night stays.

The luxury hotel group is linked to 30 frequent-flyer programmes and has its own guest loyalty programme, Golden Circle, members of which can convert their accumulated Golden Circle Award points into Voyager miles for SAA air tickets.

Shangri-La operates 37 hotels in mainland China, while SAA Voyager is the largest air travel loyalty programme in Africa. SAA’s direct route from Joburg to Beijing will further strengthen economic co-operation and tourism between South Africa and China, and underscores Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ association with SAA Voyager. - Saturday Star
